Executing around the customer

We need to think about strategy in a way that recognizes the nature of competition and the need for continuous (not periodic) leadership.
  • Put your Strategy is in 35 words or less.
    • Companies that don’t have a simple and clear statement of strategy are likely to fall into the sorry category of those that have failed to execute their strategy or, worse, those that never even had one.
  • Share your strategy.
    • It must be well understood by the employees, partners and customers. If it is good then your competition and others will know it.
Structure: Are you structured properly to make the right decisions in the right amount of time?. Flat organizational structures are good but not always what you need. What you should look for is fast and appropriate decision making. Some organizations are organized regionally, some by product types. It will depend on your specific company as to what needs to happen.

Execution: how well you run your operations + how well you build your operations around the customer and their needs. Speed your decision making, reduce layers and decrease cost, increase speed, focus and agility in the marketplace so we serve customers better.
  • How flawless are your operations?
  • Do you know how well your teams perform on a day to day basis?
  • Are you focused on the customer?
